Abstract
Scores, correspondence, programs, clippings, flyers, and photographs, dated 1984-2005, pertaining to the career of violinist Daniel Roumain.
Scope and Contents of the Materials
The collection includes correspondence, programs, clippings, flyers, scores and photographs, spanning the years 1984 – 2005. The correspondence dates primarily from 1988-1993. The programs center on Daniel Roumain’s college years at Vanderbilt and the University of Michigan and his first years in New York City (2000-2002) working with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and the American Composers Orchestra. Photographs are separated into two series; professional portraits and snapshots. Highlights include: performances at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the premiere of Human Songs by the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra, and a large sub-series of candid snapshots from Daniel Roumain’s tenure as Composer in Residence at the Bucks County, PA summer dance theater, The Nest. The collection of scores includes works written while Roumain was a student, donated to the CBMR in 1992, and manuscripts of those and later works received in 2005. Scores are arranged by titles of the compositions.
